Taking Malarone
Consume one tablet at the same time daily with food or a milky drink, if feasible.
Start daily tablet intake two days prior to entering a malaria risk area. Continue taking one tablet every day while in the area and for seven days after your departure.
How does it work?
The transmission of malaria occurs through the bite of an infected mosquito, introducing the malaria parasite into the bloodstream. Malarone comprises two active ingredients, atovaquone and proguanil hydrochloride, that work together to prevent malaria by eliminating the malaria parasite.
Side Effects
Adverse effects from Malarone are infrequent and generally mild; however, the medication may occasionally lead to stomach pain, dizziness, headaches, nausea, diarrhoea, coughing, low mood, and skin reactions. It is possible to experience vivid dreams as well.
